Old Homes

We do Retrofit Wall Insulation by lifting most types of siding, drilling holes, and using the Dense-Pack method of insulating to fill the holes with cellulose. We then seal the holes and replace siding. Brick, stone, and asbestos-clad homes can be insulated from inside the home. Air sealing is also very important in basements, walls, and attics. We can do Air Infiltration Analysis with the use of a Minneapolis Blower Door. This tool shows the technician and homeowner where homes are losing heat by leaking air in and out. Attic insulation is very important because most heat is lost thru the attic. Most homes do not have enough insulation in the attic. With energy costs going up, installing more insulation can better the payback on utility bills because less energy is used. We also check attic ventilation, which is very important because of heat and humidity buildup. You need approximately 1 vent per 150 square feet of soffit and ridge venting.
